The Canadian Review

Friday night was a great turnout with many friends and family home for the holidays. Thanks to everyone who came out. Saturday was good too!

The Road Rockets started things off in fine form with a solid set of almost all new material. Here's Carl with his new strat:

Our set (GDH) was very enjoyable (what with my rowdy relatives whooping it up and all). We recruited Carl to play bass for us so I could play my lovely guitars more. He did an admirable job.

Love those pics of my guitars!:

I also got the chance to play the banjo live for the first time:

The Woody Sims Tree-o ended the night with a stellar set:

Both nights we had special guests. Laura lent her trumpet talents to "Holland, 1945":

And Adam F. sat in on lap steel and guitar both nights with GDH, the RRs and SHED. He sounded freakin' amazing! His band, People For Audio(based in Montreal) just completed their second (?) album and should be releasing it soon:

SHED closed out the show Saturday night. We sounded pretty good for having Eddie arrive in town that day. The manager offered us a monthly gig there. All in all an excellent weekend. Thanks again to everyone who came out!

Congratulations!!!

It seems that Time magazine has awarded you "Person of the Year". So in order to celebrate you should come out Friday Dec. 22 AND Saturday Dec. 23 at the Canadian. You will have a fun time.

And in closing let me quote August J. Pollak:

"I'd like to apologize in advance for this, because I'm sure it will offend some. But Person of the Year isn't the Special fucking Olympics. The entire point of the exercise is that everyone doesn't get a medal for participating. The purpose of the issue is to address the person or persons who, for bad or worse, most affected world events of that year. So they picked... everyone? Well of course everyone affected world events the most, fuckwits."

A Jumble of Things

1) The house is coming together nicely. Thanks to everyone who helped us. Boxes have been emptied and pictures have been hung (and rehung).

2) LET'S PARTY!!!!!
We've got a couple more gigs coming up. Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23th at the Canadian. The first night will be the Road Rockets, The Woody Sims Tree-o and GDH. Second night will be the Road Rockets, GDH and SHED. Not sure of the order each night. Adam F. will be sitting in with his lap steel! Wicked! I will attempt to play the banjo in public. Laura will probably play trumpet again and Steve-o might do the trombone thing for us. There is a tentative date out at Searchmont and a possible one at the Speak Easy.

3) I copied off the Joel R.L. Phelps and the Downer Trio's T-shirts who copied off the Vancouver Canucks and made this with MS Paint. It's a Jaguar headstock:

4) Perry Bible Fellowship distracted me from finishing this post (click pic to enlarge):
