More Things That Are Filling My Head

Hockey is back so I now have a reason to watch the television in the attic again. Here's what I've been watching on the internet in the meantime:

T.V. Ontario has a show called "Big Ideas". It's billed as the only regularly scheduled television show in North America devoted to the art of the lecture and the importance of ideas in public life. They also release the lectures as podcasts. Every year since 2005 they hold a Best Lecturer contest. Arne Kislenko won the first one with a lecture called "WWII: The Soviet Experience". I found it fascinating.

Click here to watch it. It is approximately an hour long.

Quantum physics, crop circles, aliens, the Ark of the Covenant, solar flares, the star of David, black holes, the Kabbalah......all topics tied together by Nassim Haramein. Nassim claims to have figured out one of the holy grails of physics - A Grand Unified Theory or Theory of Everything. Simply put, his idea is that at the heart of every atom is a black hole. His paper "The Schwarzschild Proton"(links to pdf file) won the Best Paper Award at the University of Liège, Belgium during the 9th International Conference CASYS'09 (Computing Anticipatory Systems).

I really enjoyed this 8 hour lecture from 2003. Check it out:

For the conspiracy fans out there I enjoyed the series "September Clues". Here's part A:

And I really had to sneak another plug in for The Moth. They're trying to bring their podcast to public radio. Click here to listen to their first 5 pilot episodes. I highly recommend this!

Oh yeah, I had to fit this site in: http://twitter.com/Shitmydadsays . "It's called Shit My Dad Says". Here's the explaination of it: "I'm 29. I live with my 73-year-old dad. He is awesome. I just write down shit that he says."
